BIRKTIONARY: A Lexicon from a Strange Family

Kathy: Stephen King alleges in his novel Lisey’s Story, that every marriage has its own internal language. We’d like to take that thought further to say: every family has its own internal language. We certainly have ours, don’t we?

Kelley: We sure do! It has often been suggested that I write a dictionary so people will know what in the world I am talking about!!

Kathy: Your husband is a case in point.

Kelley: You’re right! He sometimes looks at me like I am nuts when we talk. Matter of fact so does Munchy, now that he’s old enough to understand these things.

Kathy: I love your idea of writing a Birktionary! Even the name is cool!

Kelley: I thought your idea to blog about it was great. We both have successful blogs going on. Why not invite our readers to get to know us better?

Kathy: And what better way to do that than to share some precious family memories, forever immortalized into this collection of words and catchphrases?

Kelley: Sure! And we can talk about how that word came about.

Kathy: we should get to writing. I already know how I’m going to introduce this joint writing venture of ours via my blog, The Vagabond Blog.

Kelley: Umm… I am kind of busy at the moment. Don’t you think we are getting a little bit ahead of ourselves?

Kathy: No, it just so happens I have more time on my hands than you do. But still… you’d better get moving.

Kelley: Mom, I am a grown up now. You don’t have to tell me what to do!!

Kathy: I know, dear Daughter, I know. Now start writing!

Kelley: I guess I should. We have a lot of words to cover!

Kathy: I hate it when you take the last word.

Kelley: I love you.

Kathy: Love you too. See you in the blogosphere.

Kelley: Last word: Haha!
Kathy: Love you too. See you in the blogosphere.

Kelley: Last word haha!
